Head coach Andy Reid insists that Albert will still be on the roster next season.

Despite the rumours that Branden Albert was close to completing a move to the Miami Dolphins via a trade, his head coach this week has insisted that he will not only be playing on the Chiefs team next season, that he will also be playing left tackle.

The Chiefs used their first overall pick in last weeks draft to select Eric Fisher, who is expected to be the left tackle of the future for the team, but according to profootballtalk.com, Reid would want Albert to play the position next season.

“I mean, in this business you’d love to say that he’d be here or not be here, one of the two, but I know he’s a good kid, I know he’s a hard worker and I know he’s a good left tackle,” Reid said.

“So that gives us a whole lot of flexibility and if he was here today he would be the left tackle, and then we go from there and we just see what happens down the road.”

While it seems clear that the future of Albert is still up in the air in Kansas, if he is to stay then his position as the top offensive lineman in the group is set, until his franchise tag expires next year, in which he will likely be a free agent as the Chiefs look to move Fisher across the line.
